Today has been a frustrating, and by necessity simple day. I had a very busy day, and ran out of time to train properly, so I improvised! Rather than miss out, I picked a WOD I knew I could walk in, do cold, and benefit safely from in under 20 minutes - including setting up and packing away. I chose CrossFit Games Open WOD 14.5/16.5 which is:
For Time:
21-18-15-12-9-6-3 Reps of:
Thrusters 42.5kg
Burpees Over The Bar
Today I took 13:26. My time almost 6 years ago was 11:44. I'm actually very happy with this all things considered! Although at my best, at least in terms of CrossFit, this is my wheelhouse workout, I know I'm a little off that form just now. To hit this with no warm-up, in a freezing silent gym, alone, is quite satisfying. I plan to use this as a benchmark in the next few weeks to see progress in this time domain and with these types of movements - light loads, gymnastics, for medium to high reps.
Food
I had lunch at 1:30pm. It was a lamb chop, some mushrooms and tomatoes. I simply didn't make enough, so I also had a hot dog shortly afterwards. Then just before coaching this evening at 5pm, I ate the berries, yoghurt and honey I had packed for a boost. It worked a treat! This evening I'm having homemade oven fries, lamb and tomatoes. Simple, but it hit's the spot!
Training has been flexed a lot this week to fit around a busy and constantly moving schedule, and that will continue this weekend as I work straight through. That said, I will make time to hit the basics from my framework programme, and improvise the rest of it. I'm excited to taper a little next week leading into the British Weightlifting Championships and seeing what I have in the tank.
